Big day out in the southern Peak District

Big day out in the southern Peak District

Last week I was fortunate in having a day off work and a free pass from the family to spend some time on my bike.

I decided to head out for a 100 mile route exploring the southern Peak District.

Roughly speaking the route broke down into the following stages:

  • Sheffield
  • Holmesfield
  • Cromford
  • Carsington
  • Tissington
  • Ilam
  • Hartington
  • Millers Dale
  • Castleton
  • Hathersage
  • Calver
  • Froggatt
  • Sheffield

When I have time I’ll try to document some of the good roads and hills. But, if you are yet to explore the hills around Ilam, Tissington and Hartington I cannot recommend them enough. Quite a few of the roads that I rode on were part of the national cycleway so would be quiet enough to take the family if you wanted a shorter but beautiful day out.
